Scope of works: This iconic building is located in the heart of Sydney CBD. Owned by the Commonwealth Bank, RJC Group were engaged for stonemasonry and heritage building restoration. The works included gantry and scaffolding installation, façade stonework repairs, removal of pointing containing asbestos, desalination of stonework, full stone replacement with new sandstone, hairline indent repairs, cleaning of sandstone, repointing 100% of both facades, removal of redundant metal fixings as well as the removal and reinstatement of existing signage with new engineered fixings. We also had to remove and replace the existing flagpole on top of the building with a new flagpole and this meant shutting down George St and using 130-ton crane to remove and replace the flagpole with a new anodized flagpole.
